10 Comic Characters You Won't Believe Joined The Fantastic Four
3. New Fantastic Four
Including four characters in one entry may seem like cheating, but these guys come as a package deal. Under Walter Simonson's penmanship (Fantastic Four #347–349), Spider-Man, Wolverine, Hulk (as his "Mr Fixit" persona) and Ghost Rider (Danny Ketch) united in the FF's absence.
After Skrulls captured the original Fantastic Four, a Skrull impersonating the Invisible Woman called together this new ragtag team in the hope that they would want to "avenge" the original team. She planned to use this new team to attack Mole Man so she could steal a powerful weapon. The New Fantastic Four was short-lived as the Skrull's ruse was quickly revealed and the original team was rescued not long after.
Though Hulk and Ghost Rider didn't return to the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man and Wolverine have helped out the FF on more than one occasion. Famously, Spider-Man replaced Johnny Storm after the Human Torch's apparent death during Jonathan Hickman's run, and recently the Empyre event saw both Spidey and Wolverine teamed up with Franklin and Valeria Richards to battle the invading Cotati.
