8. Etrigan

Lex Luthor Justice League
DC Comics

During the Middle Ages, Merlin summoned a demon called Etrigan to protect Camelot from the sorceress, Morgaine le Fey. When Merlin realised that Etrigan was a much bigger threat than Morgaine, the wizard fused the demon's essence with a mortal man called Jason Blood. Blood and Etrigan have been bonded for the last 1,500 years.

To ensure Etrigan doesn’t take over his host's body, Blood has become the leading expert in demonology and the occult. Through his studies, he learned to summon dragons, exorcise spirits, read minds, and see into the future.

He's learned countless languages, including some that are no longer spoken. The Justice League recruited Blood, believing his expertise would prove crucial when encountering paranormal threats.

But there's one problem. Blood may be an expert on the dark arts, but he doesn't know everything. When Blood encounters a supernatural force or a demon he's powerless against, he has no choice but to allow Etrigan to take over his body.

Etrigan may be an incredible ally to have, but he will only help the superheroes of Earth if it fits his needs.
