10 Comic Villains You Didn't Realise Actually Won

1. Bane - Secret Six (Vol. 3)

Injustice 2 Darkseid
DC Comics

The 2008 Secret Six comic ends with an all-out brawl featuring our favourite team of villains - who have all just taken the super-steroid venom - against some of DC's strongest superheroes. As you'd imagine, the whole thing is a total disaster for the Secret Six, who are either killed in this fight, or knocked cold out.

Except for Bane, who we see rolled into an ambulance while semi-conscious. While you'd expect him to be distraught, he's actually relieved, for what is revealed to be the worst reason ever. It turns out Bane wanted his squad of ne’er-do-wells to fail in their battle, and that he'd explicitly given them venom to enrage them to the point they wouldn't even consider running away.

To the grizzled masked man, having him team annihilated was the only way for him to get rid of his biggest weakness; caring about his newly found friends. And thus, Bane did the supervillain equivalent of ghosting - which, perhaps unsurprisingly, involves a whole lot more murder.
