Would you kindly let me know more about where Rapture came from?

Well, since you asked so nicely, yes, I can. Although Bioshock, Bioshock 2 and Bioshock Infinite are packed full of lore detailing a great deal of what Rapture is, what it stands for and why it was made, there's always been the question - just how on earth did they manage to build a city at the bottom of the ocean anyway?

Novel Bioshock: Rapture has the answers!

At the start of the novel, Andrew Ryan, the man behind Rapture, is horrified at the nuclear bombings at the end of World War 2. He reveals he has been working on a project in secret to escape from impending atomic war - a city removed from society, where there's no threat of nuclear attack.

It's revealed that Ryan is a highly successful businessman, and he is using his vast wealth, contacts and pre-fabricated buildings on ships to construct Rapture out at sea, far from prying eyes.

The storyline then shifts to fill in the blanks of the civil war of Rapture in the coming years, with regular time jumps taking us through the events up to BioShock, and its prequel, BioShock 2.
