10 Comics Fates Worse Than Death

7. Being Stuck Between Life And Death

The Infinity Gauntlet series played out a bit differently in the comics than it did on the silver screen. In the books, Thanos acquired the gems and assembled his Gauntlet, but once he was completed, he went to war with pretty much every remaining character in the Marvel Universe.

This included every cosmic being, including Celestials and Galactus, but with the power of the Infinity Gauntlet, he was able to subdue them easily and bend the lot of them to his will. His biggest act (after the snap) was to supplant Eternity himself, becoming one with the cosmos.

Before all of that happened, he resurrected Nebula, but he didn't bring her back to life in a nice, clean package. She was more of a husk of her former self. She was neither dead nor was she alive, and despite looking like a zombie, she barely moved and couldn't communicate.

When Thanos was playing at being Eternity, Nebula managed to slip the Gauntlet off his hand, placing it on her own. At that moment, she managed to undo her torturous existence, but for quite some time, she was living in an unending fate, far worse than death.
