10 Comics Heroes Who Broke Their Mentor's Rules

8. Amadeus Cho

Robin Batman
Marvel Comics

When Amadeus Cho took Bruce Banner's gamma radiation - and took on the responsibility of being the Hulk from the scientist - he did so under one strict proviso; he needed to remain calm.

Initially, this didn't seem a wild concept. After all, it's been made very clear over the years that Banner's childhood abuse and residual trauma resulted in both the Hulk being more uncontrollable, and in the jolly green giant coming out more, as Banner still has some underlying anger issues.

As a happy-go-lucky genius, it didn't seem too crazy for him to be able to control his new gamma-based form. However, as Cho is only human, he inevitably gives in to his anger many times, scaring both those around him, and Amadeus himself.

Worse yet, this doesn't end up stopping Banner from becoming the Hulk on the long term, so the end result is just more crazy green bad boys running around - although one now has an admittedly sweet haircut.
