With Superboy-Prime having grown up for most of his life in a world where Clark Kent and his superhero alter ego were fictional, it makes sense that, perhaps initially, he didn't hold the same level of respect for the Man of Steel that many of his other protégés may have had.

But, when Superman trains his unusual doppelgänger, the two do appear to bond - which makes it all the more sad that Prime absolutely loses it and becomes the major villain in Infinite Crisis.

While Superman and his Amazon Prime counterpart didn't have a profound bond, Prime did grow up learning the spaceman's rules and moral code from comics, meaning he knew he was breaking every single one when he did defect to the side of evil.
