10 Comics Panels Where You Really Didn't Want To Turn The Next Page

4. Wolverine Finally Pushes Magneto Too Far

The Amazing Spider Man 121 Death Of Gwen Stacey
Marvel Comics

Magneto was the first foe the X-Men ever fought, which means he's been around as long as the mutant team. He has a long and complicated history with Professor Charles Xavier and his band of merry mutants, but he's never really crossed the line and done major damage to any of them.

He could. He's an Omega-Level Mutant, after all, and his ability to manipulate the magnetic field doesn't just mean he can move metal about at will. He can create objects out of thin air, stop a person's brain from sending signals, and get truly brutal if he really wanted to.

Why then had he never used his amazing powers against Wolverine? For years, Wolverine was running around with a metal-coated skeleton, and Magneto never went so far as to do anything to the Canadian mutant outside of stopping him in his tracks every once in a while.

Eventually, Magneto was pushed beyond his limit, and he opted to pull the Adamantium from Wolverine's body, and the stress it caused nearly cost him his life.

Seeing this panel was one of the most difficult things to look at for fans of Wolverine, as it meant the thing that kept him from being killed by pretty much anything was gone.

It would be years before Wolverine was restored, but you had to flip the page to keep reading and find out what became of him in this issue before you could get to that point, and it wasn't easy.
