10 Comics Superman Haters MUST Read

6. Luthor: Man Of Steel

Superman For The Man Who Has Everything
DC Comics

Luthor: Man of Steel is arguably the most unique entry you'll read about on this list.

The narrative is told from the perspective of Lex Luthor as he plots and plans his way to destroying Superman's image. By depicting the Man of Steel through the eyes of his greatest villain, the comic presents the hero in a completely new light.

Superman isn't displayed as the benevolent, compassionate savior like he normally is. Rather, he's the opposite. To Lex, he is the ultimate enemy to humanity, representing the end to everything that is supposed to make us remarkable. What separates humans from every other animal is our capacity to rise above who we are, and the very presence of Superman on Earth is a threat to that.

Every aspect of the comic, from the narration to the character designs, serves to paint a picture of the inside of Lex's head. While he is undeniably a bad guy, we come to understand why he is the way he is. It's this brilliant use of empathy that works to show a side to Superman never seen before.
