10 Comics Superman Haters MUST Read

7. Superman And The Legion Of Superheroes

Superman For The Man Who Has Everything
DC Comics

Superman and The Legion of Superheroes starts off with a baby from a dying world crash landing in Smallville. Sounds familiar right? Well it would be if baby Clark were executed on the spot like the one here is.

When a xenophobic government in the future re-writes the history of Superman, turning him into a representation of all their hateful ideals, the Legion of Superheroes brings him to their time to set things right. The problem? Future Earth has a red sun, which drains all of his powers.

Superman basically acts as a side character, but his influence on the story is always felt. In taking characters that would normally be in supporting roles and putting them front and centre, the narrative is able to bring out things about him that tend to go overlooked, primarily his status as an "other".

The comic uses the terrifyingly real concept of historical revisionism as a way to celebrate the values behind the icon that is Superman. This makes for a truly inventive adventure that even the most stubborn of haters can enjoy.
