10 Comics Villains Who Had The Best Debuts
4. Magneto
Released in September 1963, the Uncanny X-Men would not only introduce everyone's favorite mutants but also their biggest foe, Magneto.
After he has destroyed a missile in flight, the Master of Magnetism waltzed into a military base and took it over. This would see him having to face off against the original X-Men as they tried to stop him from launching every warhead at his disposal in an attempt to wipe out mankind.
Another creation from Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, when the X-Men were first launched it was obvious that they would need a villain as outlandish as themselves to be a success, and Magneto ended up being the perfect foil. Filled with a hatred for humans, who he viewed as racist and bigoted, Erik Lehnsherr's desire to overthrow mutant kind's oppressors would fuel him for decades, and it all started here.
Turning their weapons against them was the perfect way to prove his point that they were the inferior species, and without the timely intervention of Cyclops, Beast, et al., there was a very good chance he would've succeeded.
