10 Comics Villains Who Secretly Mirrored The Hero

9. The Mother F***er / Kick-Ass

Back when he was known as Red Mist, Chris Genovese was a pretty obvious reflection of Dave Lizewski's Kick-Ass.

Dave was a middle-class teenager who put on a costume and declared himself a superhero, all out of a sense of adventure and a desire to do good. Chris was the son of an uber-wealthy mob boss who put on a costume and declared himself a supervillain, all in an attempt to impress his criminal dad. In the end, they were two kids who ended up in situations way out of their depth.

In Kick-Ass 2, something snaps inside Chris, and he becomes the Mother-F***er. A genuine psychopath in command of an army of maniacal villains, he goes from a low threat joke character to a proper comic book big bad. The similarities between himself and Dave seem to completely disappear... or do they?

When we really look at the events of Kick-Ass 2, the Mother-F***er usually doesn't do anything unless Kick-Ass has done it first. Case in point: Kick-Ass gets combat lessons from the skilled fighter Hit-Girl, so the Mother-F***er travels to Asia and enrols in a top-class Kung-Fu School. Kick-Ass joins a volunteer group of like-minded superheroes, and the Mother-F***er pays people to join his team of like-minded villains.

We may be shocked when the Mother-F***er brutally murders Kick-Ass's father, but we'd be well to remember that not too long before this Kick-Ass killed the Mother-F***er's dad by shooting him in the privates. They really are two peas in a pod, those boys.
