10 Comics Where You Couldn’t Help But Root For The Villain

6. The Riddler - The Last Riddler Story

Wanted Image Comics
DC Comics

Not content with bringing us some of the greatest Batman stories of all time on the small-screen, Batman: The Animated Series also did pretty well on the comic book page too. For example - The Last Riddler Story, (see Batman Adventures #10); one of the best, most thoughtful Riddler stories of all time.

Fed up of being constantly outwitted by Batman, the Riddler is about ready to throw in the towel. Persuaded by his goons to try out one last heist, Nygma goes after a set of rare jewels, employing all of his usual modus operandi (writing riddles in the sky et al). Batman, of course, foils the Riddler but only by chance, not having solved his riddle at all.

A win for the Riddler, even if he does wind up back in Arkham by the end of it all. The reader too, can't help but feel happy for the poor guy, finally getting one over on that know-it-all Bat.
