10 Comics You Should Re-Read As An Adult

Watchmen comics
Marvel Comics

Now that we have the much, MUCH superior movie to compare it to, is there really any argument remaining about the quality of the original Civil War? Sure, arguments can be made for certain tie-ins (like how the Ms. Marvel tie in was the ONLY good part of Civil War 2), and the fact that the superhero accords, which were introduced in this story, DID stick around like they promised for a long ass time is a good feather in its cap.

But apart from that, go back and read this comic again and you find it's just more of Mark Millar's nonsense. The melodrama and obscene violence - now that it's mostly separated from Millar's more offensive proclivities - would be funny, if the tone wasn't so damn dour all the time.

The themes and ideas it introduces are fascinating - they wouldn't have adapted it to the MCU in the first place otherwise - but the comic just doesn't do anything with it that works when you think about it.

The MCU isn't perfect by any means, but going back to re-read this comic for this article made it abundantly clear that the movie removes any need to go back and read this again.
