5. The Pet Avengers
In a parallel universe, Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four informs the Inhumans' leader, Black Bolt, that Thanos is once again attempting to locate the Infinity Stones. The Inhumans' teleporting mutt, Lockjaw, stumbles upon the Mind Stone and uses it to learn of Reed's concerns. He then traverses around the world to forge his own team to find these cosmic gems before Thanos does.
In his journey, he allies with frog-version of Thor called Throg, Kitty Pryde's alien dragon, Lockheed, Speedball's cat, Hairball, Ka-Zar's smilodon, Zabu, Firestar's pooch (who's called Ms. Lion despite being male), and Falcon's... eh... falcon, Redwing.
After the group collect the Stones, Thanos steals all but one of them and attacks Lockjaw. After an epic battle through time and space, Lockjaw seals the Mad Titan in another dimension. When the Avengers learned Lockjaw defeated their deadliest enemy, they thanked him for his services and built the Pet Avengers their own headquarters, which resides just behind the Avenger's Mansion.
This story was supposed to be silly but any comic that concludes with Thanos being beaten by a giant dog is automatically amazing.
