A Batman comic done by the devilishly brilliant Hellboy creator Mike Mignola? You heard that right. Things are about to get weird.

When it comes to 'The Doom That Came To Gotham' forge everything you think you know about the world of Batman, because while it does take place in Gotham City, it's one unlike any seen before.

The year is 1928, and Bruce Wayne has returned from a twenty year long expedition in the Arctic after the murder of his parents. A being known as The Lurker on the Threshold is amassing its army of evil and the only thing standing between it and total world domination is the newly arrived Batman.

Cosmic terror, Eldritch monsters, and gratuitous violence abound Mignola goes full-on Hellboy here, only with Batman instead of Big Red. Some readers may find a few of the twists to The Dark Knights lore to almost be sacrilegious, but everything new that's brought to the table works creating a Batman yarn that just can't be replicated.

Mignola and crew know what they're doing, commanding the page like a conductor commanding a chamber orchestra. If you're a fan of Lovecraftian horror or are looking for something truly out of the ordinary 'The Doom That Came To Gotham' will scratch that itch plenty.
