10 Criminally Overlooked Characters In Comics

6. Daimon Hellstrom

Hellstorm Son of Satan
Marvel Comics

Daimon Hellstrom, known as both the Son of Satan and Hellstorm during his career, was created by Roy Thomas, Gary Friedrich, and Herb Trimpe and first appeared in Ghost Rider #1. Daimon was born to a human mother and a demon father calling himself Satan. After achieving a doctorate in anthropology, Hellstrom began working as an occult investigator, demonologist, exorcist, and defender against the dark forces.

The Son of Satan began a long association with the “non-team” called the Defenders and was instrumental in their extended battle and defeat of The Six-Fingered Hand. It was through the team that he met Patsy Walker, Hellcat. The pair fell in love and married when Daimon seemingly lost his darker half. As Hellstrom began to die without his Darksoul, Patsy summoned “Satan” to have him. Patsy saw his “true” face and was rendered insane. She eventually killed herself but returned to Earth through Daimon’s efforts.

Daimon Hellstrom was a magic user on par with Dr. Strange. He could perform practically any magical feat, especially when in his own Hell dimension. He can force lesser magic users and demons to reveal their true selves and banish demons back to Hell. His trident could fire Hellfire and concussive force. His association with the ubiquitous Hellcat should mean that he is more well-known than he is within the Marvel pantheon of magic users.
