8. Saga
Saga is certainly one if the more popular and critically-acclaimed indie comics of the past several years, but being an indie comic, it still isn't getting anywhere near as much attention as even poorly-received titles from the Big Two.
Saga is a classic fusion of mystical high fantasy with soft sci fi. Wizards and warriors fighting laser gun-wielding armies on space stations. But it still manages to be somehow grounded and relatable, telling very human stories with mythical creatures and people with televisions for heads.
Spacefaring fantasy has been done plenty of times in the past, but it's never been done better than Saga. It's simply an amazing story with stunning art, and it's currently on hiatus, at the half-way point, making this the perfect time to get caught up.
