10 Criminally Overlooked Ongoing Comics You Need To Check Out

5. Deadly Class

Green Lantern Far Sector
Image Comics

Deadly Class is easily one of the best comics of the decade. From its beautiful stylized art to its subversive messages and frequent fun references to the punk, goth, and other countercultural scenes of the '80s (like the book titles; Reagan Youth, Kids of the Black Hole, etc.), this series is simply amazing all the way through.

The story centers around Marcus - who blames Ronald Reagan for the deaths of his parents - being brought into King's Dominion Atelier of the Deadly Arts; a school intended to train the next generation of insurrectionists and assassins, to ensure that the lower classes could fight back against the elite.

Despite its heavy subject matter, this series is surprisingly fun and exciting. Whether it's showing Saya wrecking a police car, or the kids all letting loose at a punk show, there's always an almost-tangible energy in this book, that makes it hard to stop reading.
