10 Criminally Underrated Comic Book Runs EVERYONE Missed

6. Deathstroke - Christopher Priest & Carlo Pagulayan

Deathstroke DC Rebirth
DC Comics

There's no other way of putting this: Christopher Priest is a legend of the comics medium, and his work during DC Rebirth deserves twice the amount of attention it's actually received so far.

The writer is perhaps most famous for galvanising Black Panther in the late nineties and early 2000s, and though his work over at the House of Ideas has been formidable, it might be possible that he's been putting out his best work while at their competitors.

So far, throughout Rebirth, Priest has lent his talents to several books - Justice League, which he concluded in 2018 - Deathstroke (the topic of this entry), and the mini-series Deathstroke vs Batman. All have been met with acclaim, but maybe not the same attention some of DC's other titles have, which is a huge shame.

Deathstroke has always been one of DC's most iconic adversaries, but few stories have really delved into the character's backstory. Priest's work can then be considered something of a corrective measure, as it devotes the time to not only flesh out Slade Wilson, but to push the character into new and exciting territory.

As of the time of writing Deathstroke is still ongoing. Be sure to support while you still can!
