10 DC Supervillains That Vanished Without A Trace

7. Bulls-Eye (Not That One)

The Spook Batman
DC Comics

Before you ask, no, this character has no connection with the Daredevil villain, Bullseye. Bulls-Eye (spelt with a hyphen) is an acrobat that Green Arrow faced during the 1940s. He gave the Emerald Archer a run for his money for a while since his super-fast reflexes allow him to dodge the superhero's arrows, making his archery skills redundant.

The character was created to be Green Arrow's nemesis and to capitalise on the rising popularity of another clown supervillain, the Joker. The writers were so certain the character would be a hit, they gave Bulls-Eye a slew of nicknames including the Pagliacci of Peril, The Crime Comic, The Laughing Master of Movement, and The Joking Jester of the Merry Midway.

However, readers found Bulls-Eye to be a poor imitation of Batman's arch-enemy and so, the character vanished and hasn't appeared in the comics in over 60 years.

Also, if DC Comics are going to create a character called Bulls-Eye, could the writers spell his name correctly? It should be Bull's-Eye, (with an apostrophe) not Bulls-Eye! I've never seen a supervillain whose name had a grammatical error.

However, Bulls-Eye isn't the only time DC tried to create another Joker...
