10 Deadliest Comic Book Assassins (That You'd Totally Hire)
9. Elektra
Marvel has a whole sub-genre of city-based heroes - Daredevil, Punisher, Luke Cage. These characters have more grounded adventures as opposed to trotting off to other galaxies or time travelling.
Elektra is connected to these heroes through Daredevil. Although she has had a few different origins, in main continuity she was hired by The Kingpin to kill Daredevil. Instead of killing him, she failed a contract for the first time and fell in love with him, which led to The Kingpin putting a hit on HER. The hit was, in memorable fashion, pulled off by Bullseye, who killed her with her own sai, cementing him as Daredevil's nemesis.
Elektra was created (and killed off) by Frank Miller. Marvel, however, caused a stir when they began using Elektra after Miller killed her, after apparently promising they would never do so.
That's according to Miller, so take that with a grain of salt...
Elektra was trained from a young age in martial arts, before joining The Hand, Marvel's shadowy ninja clan. She is at the peak of human agility, speed, and reflexes and her training from The Hand gives her low level telepathy and mind control.
Although straddling the line between good and evil, she is as deadly as they come.
