10 Different Ways Batman Has Been Defeated

7. Electrocuted By Clayface

Batman Electrocuted
DC Comics

The pseudonym has been used by various supervillains throughout DC history, but the original is the bets. Basil Karlo was, at first, just a murderous actor driven insane when he was cut out of a monster movie. Then he met the later Clayfaces, who were literally made of clay and could shapeshift into all sorts, and then things really changed.

During the No Man's Land arc of the Batman comics €“ where Gotham suffered a huge earthquake and was cut off from the rest of the United States €“ he got by by imprisoning Poison Ivy and getting her to grow veg he could sell. The jerk. Then he disappeared for a while. Never that much of a threat, he only managed to beat Batman the once after attempting to absorb Wonder Woman (one of her origins is she was formed out of clay) and managing to gain some sort of electricity powers, which he zapped him with.

The Dark Knight only escaped because then Clayface and Mr Freeze were arguing over who got to kill him.
