10 Doctor Strange Fates Worse Than Death

5. Being Turned Into A Vampire

Doctor Strange Death
Marvel Comics

Like being a werewolf, being a vampire in the Marvel Universe isn't all it's cracked up to be in other franchises. If you've seen the Blade movies or read the comics, you pretty much know that being a vampire means you're going to be hunted forever... and you have to kill and subsist on people, of course.

Obviously, getting cursed with vampirism isn't great, but what happened to Stephen Strange's brother is far worse because the good Doctor was responsible for it all. It all started when his brother Victor called Stephen out for not seeing their father on his deathbed.

Enraged, Victor ran out of Strange's home and was hit by a car. To save his brother, Stephen cryonically froze him with the hope that he could save him some time in the future (This was during his pre-Master of the Mystic Arts years). Later, after he learned magic, he tried to resurrect his brother.

This didn't have the desired effect, as the resurrection spell from the Book of Vishanti turned Victor into a vampire. Not only did Victor have to suffer the fate of the undead, but Stephen had to live on knowing he turned his own brother into a bloodsucking monster... right up to the point he killed himself.
