10 Doctor Strange Fates Worse Than Death

6. Having Your Memory Erased

Doctor Strange Death
Marvel Comics

Doctor Strange has a lot going for him when it comes to using his mind for offensive and defensive capabilities. Before he became the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth, the man was a world-famous surgeon with a genius-level intellect, which has only helped him boost his mental acuity.

People think of Professor X as the main telepath in the Marvel Universe, but Doctor Strange is incredibly gifted in this area as well, which means he can dive into a person's mind and play around all he wants... among other things. He had an opportunity to flex his mental muscle on none other than Captain America.

When Cap learned of the Illuminati, he didn't take it well. He felt that the group, which consisted of Doctor Strange, Iron Man, and Professor X (among others), had betrayed his trust, but he eventually joined when their secrecy proved necessary for the grand scheme of things.

Soon after, the Illuminati learned of Incursions, which would collide two universes, destroying both. Cap used the Infinity Gauntlet to stop it, but he backed down when other universes threatened Earth-616. When the group realized Cap wouldn't listen to reason, he wiped Captain America's memory of the Illuminati, and everything Cap did that was associated with them.
