The way Ta-Nehisi Coates revitalised Black Panther in 2016 was absolutely massive, and it's to the writer's credit that he's been able to oversee a whole array of different Black Panther comics make their way onto the scene in the years since.

One such book is World of Wakanda, a spin-off title written by Coates, Roxane Gay and Yonah Harvey that focuses primarily on the Dora Milaje, Wakanda's elite bodyguards who ensure the Royal Family is kept safe. The guards in question, Ayo and Aneka, are two terrific characters who have been recruited from different tribes around Wakanda, and with the book revolving around a seismic shift in the nation's politics - one that specifically relates to their duties to the Royal Family - it makes for a really compelling story.

The Coates, Gay and Harvey comic is a modern classic in the making, and the most authoritative work on the Dora Milaje themselves. With the unit set to take a key role in Black Panther (and why wouldn't they?), this is the comic every Panther fan should - ideally - be reading.
