10 Exact Moments That Made Batman Fans Rage Quit

9. You Can Take The Gotham Out Of The Bat...

Batman Catwoman Ending
DC Comics

DC has a habit of grounding its characters in specific cities, even if they support team-based operations elsewhere. To that end, Superman has Metropolis, the Flash has Central City, and Batman has Gotham. The two are so intertwined, Batman exists as a manifestation of the darker aspects of his city, and he and Gotham are inseparable.

At least, that's what most fans thought, but when No Man's Land his the DC Universe, things changed, and Batman fans didn't approve. The story was preceded by Cataclysm, which covered a massive earthquake hitting Gotham City. This was followed by Aftershock and Road to No Man's Land.

Essentially, Gotham was devastated by an earthquake, it suffered some problems immediately after, and the U.S. Government carried out an official evacuation. The people who refused to leave were left isolated and abandoned by the government, and No Man's Land told their story of living in a lawless abandoned city.

The main problem fans had with the event was that Barman ended up abandoning and leaving Gotham for several months while the town went to hell. Removing Batman from Gotham isn't something a lot of readers will accept, and many were angry at the Dark Knight's depiction in parts of No Man's Land.
