10 Exact Moments That Made Batman Fans Rage Quit

8. Batman: Fortunate Son

Batman Catwoman Ending
DC Comics

Batman has been around for the better part of a century, and over the years, he's had a lot of stories and adventures. There are literally thousands of Batman tales told throughout DC Comics, and while some are universally beloved, only a scant few are universally despised.

If you ask a Batman fan which one of his stories is the absolute worst, there's a good chance they will say "Fortunate Son." The one-shot book came out in 1999, and the story revolved around an up and coming musician whom the world dubbed to be the next Elvis Presley.

Unfortunately, the musician loses his mind and disappears, so it's up to the Dynamic Duo to find him. Over the course of the book, various discussions between Batman and Robin only serve to do two things: highlight the massive generation gap between the two and annoy Batman fans into burning their copies.

A large portion of the book can be summarized simply enough: Batman is old, he doesn't get modern music, and his ward's taste in music is clouding his judgment. Essentially, it's every conversation a parent has had with their children about how modern music sucks and the old stuff is better, which doesn't make for an exciting Batman comic.
