Sold for: $2,161,000.00CGC: 9.0 Is stands to reason that the most expensive comic of all time would be the comic that basically made the form what it is today. Action Comics #1 introduced the world to Superman, the first superhero as we understand them today, and in 2011 it sold for over 2 million dollars. It probably helped that it was in crazy good condition for a 70-year-old comic book, too. In fact Action Comics #1 is also the second, fifth, seventh, and ninth most expensive comic ever sold - with prices ranging from $1.5 million to $500,000 - but that maybe wouldn't have been quite as entertaining a list. You know what is entertaining? That this particular copy of Action Comics belonged to Nicolas Cage, a huge Supes fanboy, and it was sold not long after being recovered. The issue was stolen from Cage's vaults in 2000 and recovered nearly a decade later. Probably bought as much for that story as the story within those near mint pages.
