Amazing Fantasy - previously Amazing Adult Fantasy - was cancelled after this issue, but never fear true believers! Because it introduced the Amazing Spider-Man, who was spun off into his own series after this issue posted phenomenal sales. For a book that about to be cancelled, anyway. Since then Spider-Man has become one of the most well known and beloved superheroes in the world, and his first appearance is worth a pretty penny too. Amazing Fantasy #15 is one of the most valuable comic books in the world second to...well, the number one. The sale of this copy broke records for Silver Age (that's late fifties/early sixties) comics, the most expensive of which before this auction was a trifling $250,000. Not bad, considering it cost 12 cents when it came out.
