Some covers you just can’t help but imagine the artist giggling furiously while drawing.

For this depiction of the most fearsome of evil plots – that of god’s enemy, finger puppets – you can only imagine the artist having to take actual laughter breaks, because what kind of an evil plan involves a children’s playtoy?

Forget about Joker and Toyman, the villain himself is actually one of the creepier ones in early comic history, communicating with surprisingly spooky spirits to gain his unusual puppet powers. That's maybe the funniest part about the entire cover: knowing that someone summoned Satan to get the only toy worse than a Chinese finger trap.

Weirder yet, this isn’t the only comic where finger puppets were a tool of evil – so presumably one of the DC staff had some kind of scarring childhood experience.
