6. Maxie Zeus
Origin: Maximilian Zeus was a history teacher, however, after the loss of his wife, he became completely insane. Delusional, he believes himself to be a reincarnation of the great Greek God Zeus himself. He used his cunning and intelligence to become one of the most powerful crime lords in Gotham. He once escaped from Arkham asylum and created a superhuman criminal gang called he New Olympians. He even went so far as to kidnap Olympic athlete Lacinia Nitocris and tried to force her to marry him, all the while believing he was being watched by the Gods of Olympus and that they were supporting him.
Abilities: Electrical Scientist Vast historical knowledge
First Appearance: Maxie Zeus first appeared in Detective Comics #483, which was during the Bronze Age of Comics. Batman clashed many times with Zeus after this before he was ultimately committed to Arkham Asylum. Maxie Zeus is a great character because his existence as well as his scheme with Ares children, which was to merge Gotham with Ares throne, is evidence that Greek Gods exist in the DC Universe and I love this because Greek mythology is incredibly interesting.
