10 Great DC Elseworlds Comics EVERY Fan Must Read
1. Kingdom Come
Of course Kingdom Come is at the top of the pile. Did you expect any less?
Other Elseworlds stories before this may have been fun or creative, but Kingdom Come was the one story where alternate takes on the DC universe were solidified as a means of telling truly great stories, as this tragic cautionary tale takes everything about Elseworlds to the potential the medium has.
Set in another universe where violent murderous heroes have been embraced due to a hero named Magog eliminating the Joker, Superman and friends come in years later to finally put the world right. But is there version of justice true? Or is this just chaos by a different name?
Writer Mark Waid and the one and only Alex Ross on artwork both sell the grandiosity of the story with biblical aplomb.
Managing to convey the horrors of this world they've created while also showing that there will always be hope for mankind. And while they're at it, taking a few digs at Rob Liefeld with the various designs of the new generation of heroes, particularly Magog.
Kingdom Come is simply put one of the greatest superhero comics ever made, and - by far - the best Elseworlds comic.
