10 Greatest Batman Comics Of The 21st Century
7. Court Of Owls
DC's New 52 is not great. With more missteps than successes, the entire thing looks like a failed experiment. Out of all of the comics that came out of the company wide relaunch, Batman alone stands above everything else came out.
With the new creative team of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, there was a lot to live up to with the success of the previous Batman run. And they started their 51 issue story off with the modern classic Court of Owls.
There's a lot of hype about the quality of this run, and it's well deserved. The entire history of Batman and Gotham is changed, but in a way that feels organic and adds to the already massive mythos. It's never easy to introduce new characters to Batman and have them work in a lasting way, but the Owls added something new.
From here, Snyder and Capullo would only refine their work together, but they started their work with a story that's hard to top.
