10 Greatest Batman Comics Of The 21st Century
5. Whatever Happened To The Caped Crusader?
This is a two-part story written by legendary scribe Neil Gaiman and art by Andy Kubert. This story takes place post Batman R.I.P. and after Darkseid shoots Batman with his Omega Beams in Final Crisis.
Batman narrates the story and has to use his detective skills to figure out what is happening to him. He observes his own wake that's attended by many of his allies and enemies as they speak over his casket. Everyone takes a turn to tell how Batman died, but no two stories are alike and Batman has to figure out why these discrepancies exist.
The ending of the story won't be revealed here, but it's touching and poignant. It's a comic that analyzes who Batman is and gets to the core of the character more than anything else in modern history.
It's Neil Gaiman writing Batman - of course it's good.
