One of most badass superheroines in all of comics, Black Canary first arrived on the scene in the late forties. Though there have been multiple versions of the character, the most famous is undoubtedly Dinah Laurel Lance (the daughter of the original), who made her debut as part of DC's Silver Age.

With her excellent hand-to-hand combat skills and ultrasonic scream (the Canary Cry), Dinah is one of DC's most formidable characters. Aside from taking down foes, she is a well-respected member of the Justice League, one of the main faces of the Birds of Prey and the primary love interest of Green Arrow.

Black Canary's growing popularity has seen the character included in many important storylines. Moreover, she has also been incorporated into various video games and animated series over the years, along with recurring appearances on TV - her most famous being Katie Cassidy's portrayals of dual versions of the character on Arrow - and she is also expected to debut on the big screen in the not-too-distant future in a possible Birds Of Prey film.
