Back in the day, everybody was all about the Wolverines and the Cyclopses, but hardcore X fans knew the best mutant was without a doubt Nightcrawler.

Kurt Wagner was an all-time fan favorite since his dark origin hit the pages where he was a circus performer who was saved by Professor X, thus beginning the legacy of one of the greatest X-Men to ever grace a comic.

One thing that solidified his popularity amongst the most devoted X-Men fanatics is his game-changing demon-like appearance, which was ironic, with him being a devout Catholic. The look really sold the character to readers, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Nightcrawler is an acrobatic, teleporting, wall scaling beast that has a penetrating prehensile tail. Sometimes this X-Man occasionally gets himself caught in other dimensions while he’s teleporting, and this usually leads into lengthy solo adventures, making him a force to be reckoned with in many realities, not just his own.

He's a complex character with many layers stemming from years of trauma and discrimination. Despite all of this, Wagner never let's anything stop him from living his life to the fullest, which makes him one truly magnificent mutant.
