10 Harmless Comic Book Heroes Who Became Total Badasses

8. Deadman

Aquaman Badass
DC Comics

Having a superhero whose entire existence focusses on him being an unseen, untouchable and generally very dead entity, might not appear to make them the most powerful of individuals.

The character of Deadman initially had far more in common with that of Patrick Swayzee in Ghost. Only being able to interact with the living through possession or third-parties who can see and/or hear him in the material world is certainly unique and useful to a certain extent - but it didn't leave Deadman much room for being a total badass.

During the events of Blackest Night, Deadman was the living's last line of defence against the power of the undead Lanterns. It was here we began to see just how badass a character Deadman really is.

Facing off against swathes of Black Lanterns trying to possess the living by himself, Deadman forced the ring of one lantern off of his own corpse, reclaiming his body with a white power ring that returned him to life. That pretty damn cool, isn't it?

After being given another chance at life, Deadman found love in the arms of fellow hero Dove. But tragically, he was forced to give up living with her after sacrificing himself to save her life. Giving up his white power ring now means that Deadman has to forever stay dead, but he continues to fight for the living from beyond the grave.
