10 Harmless Comic Book Heroes Who Became Total Badasses
4. Zatanna
Zatanna made her comic book debut in the 1960s as the daughter of Golden Age hero, Zatarra. But she didn't initially appear to be much more than a reimagining or repurposing of her father's identity in a new era of comics.
Sporting an outfit that made her look like a Las Vegas magic act - Zatanna wasn't up to much when she wasn't featuring as a supporting player for other DC heroes.
But much of this changed after the Crisis on Infinite Earths arc came to an end and we saw Zatanna come to the fore in a big way.
Zatanna now has some pretty powerful abilities, including the power to wipe minds. She even tried this out on Batman - which he was NOT happy about when he found out afterwards.
Merging Aquaman with the sea to make him pretty much Poseidon re-incarnate; manipulating time and space through magic; resurrecting the entire city of Metropolis from ashes and being able to go head-to-head with almost any other entity in the DC universe, all make Zatanna pretty badass.
Zatanna is so badass that even when she decides to take a break she just keeps getting stronger. The longer she doesn't use her powers, the greater they become. This effectively makes her a magic-user with unlimited potential, and one of the mightiest DC heroes there is.
