10 Huge Differences Between Marvel Movies And The Comics
3. Everything About Baron Zemo
A lot of characters in the MCU differ from their comic versions, but with Baron Helmut Zemo we may as well be talking about two completely different characters.
If we're being charitable, we could say that both characters are motivated by the deaths of their family. However, there is a teensy difference between movie Zemo's desire to seek justice against the Avengers for the deaths of his wife and children in Age of Ultron and comic Zemo wanting to carry on the work of his Nazi father (who was also the one who froze Captain America for decades).
Apart from a difference in evilness and a clear divide of opinion on purple balaclavas, the other main difference between the two Baron Zemos (Barons Zemo?) is how they go about their business.
While the movie Zemo was happy to work behind the scenes orchestrating the events of Civil War, the comic version has traditionally been much more hands on. Most famously, he led a giant version of the Masters of Evil in an attack on Avengers Mansion which left the team's home in ruins, Hercules in a coma and the Avengers' butler Edwin Jarvis badly beaten.
