If superheroes exist to make us want to be better then there are few that succeed as well as the original Captain America. He truly is the best of boys.

In Captain America: The Chosen the super soldier serum that's sustained him for decades is starting has started to take its deadly toll on Cap's body. However, even the brink of death isn't enough to make him give up the good fight. He uses this as an opportunity for an experiment where he projects himself into the minds of countless people all across the world to awaken the hero inside them.

Even while knowing that this experiment will kill him faster, he chooses to anyway because he believes everyone can be a hero. Steve Rogers has an unwavering faith in the human capacity for good, and uses his last bit of strength to get everyday people to see that potential within themselves.

The lesson that we can all be heroes is what comics are all about. In real life we may not have superpowers, but we don't need them. All we need is to see the good that we can do and start doing it.
