10 Important Life Lessons Comic Books Teach Us (In Elaborate Ways)

4. Things Aren't Always What They Seem To Be

In a similar vein to the last point, but on a wider scale, comics teach us to be wary about everything by emphasising that things aren't always what they seem to be. Comics do this with the appearances of illusionists like Spider-Man foe Mysterio and X-Men villain Mastermind, who will often trick their heroic adversaries by using their powers of illusion to obscure their view of the world around them - perhaps by making them see things they want to see in order to lure them in to dangerous situations. In essence, this could be a metaphor for things like all of those internet scams we see on a daily basis. Emails sent to your inboxes promising riches under the guise (or illusion) of a Nigerian Prince turn out to be fake and, in a nutshell, nothing like what they seemed to be. Be wary.
