6. Starfire's New 52 Debut - Red Hood And The Outlaws #1 (2011)

The New 52 reboot of DC Comics tweaked a lot of character designs, much to the chagrin of long-time readers. Superman's mechanised suit was criticised for looking too complex. Turning Lobo into a moody teenager was met with ridicule and earned him the moniker, Twilight Lobo.

However, it was Starfire's redesign in Red Hood and the Outlaws that had fans up in arms, with her new look barely just about covering her chest. I mean... how does she even put that on? If you saw this garment separately, you wouldn't know it was a piece of clothing!

As an extra insult, writer Scott Lobdell ruined the Teen Titan's personality. Since she is from Tamaran, Starfire communicates by touching, which has always made her a physical character. But when she debuted during the New 52, her character was just... sex. One of the first things she says is, "Do you want to have sex with me?" to a total stranger.

When Bobbie Chase's Starfire solo series launched four years later, the character was thankfully reworked. Although she was naive and a little ditzy, the creepy sexualisation was drastically toned down.
