10 Incredible Batman Comics (That Don't Star Bruce Wayne)

2. Batman: White Knight

Gotham Central 1
DC Comics

The Joker is as iconic as his arch-nemesis, and so many different writers have left their mark on the character with one-shots and miniseries with him as the star, but this does something that rarely was looked at before: The Joker is cured.

Going by Jack Napier, because Tim Burton's Batman film is still a rich source of reference, The Joker is now the savior of Gotham. Rather than being a vigilante, though, Jack becomes a political force for good. Yet, that leads Batman into a downward spiral, fearing that this is just a long game by the Joker for maximum impact.

While this is one of the launch titles for the DC Black Label line, the book reads like a classic Elseworlds tale. While this does feature Bruce Wayne's Batman much more than any of the other books on this list, Sean Murphy crafts this book to really dig into the psychology of Gotham City and its relationship with Batman through the scope of Jack Napier's rise to political prominence.

With two Harley Quinns, a jackass Batman and stunning car designs aplenty, White Knight isn't just one of the Dark Knight's most recent tales, but one of his best too.
