Professor X’s split identity laden son Legion has frequently proved to be something of a walking disaster. Tragically dangerous to himself and others, Legion embarked upon a seriously misguided attempt to make right with his old man: murder Magneto.
Murder him, that is, before he ever became Magneto and caused all that grief for Xavier and his X-Men. The problem here is Legion goes way too far back in time, meeting Magneto when he was still Erik and best buds with a young Charles Xavier. In turn, Xavier tragically dies defending his best friend from this time travelling attack.
Moved and devastated, Magneto vowed to continue Xavier’s peaceful vision of the future. With mutants exposed to the masses earlier than was originally the case, Apocalypse begins his world conquest early and without the X-Men to oppose him, succeeds admirably.
In the wake of Apocalypse taking over the world, Magneto forms the X-Men to oppose the ancient evil. Marrying Rogue, being chummy with a one handed Wolverine and ultimately tearing Apocalypse in half, Magneto as a superhero was a wild ride from start to finish.
