10 Insane Alternate Versions Of Black Panther You Won't Believe Exist

6. Mangaverse Black Panther

Marvel mangaverse was a short lived experimental imprint of Marvel books made during the manga craze of the early 2000s, where American comic writers looked at the Japanese method of sequential storytelling and thought "yeah, I can do that!"

They could not do that. At all. And mangaverse was one of the weirdest attempts to.

With that being said, the mangaverse version of Black Panther is certainly an interesting character to dissect. Mangaverse T'Challa has quite a few differences from his 616 counterpart, from his sister NOT being Shuri but instead being T'Channa, the mangaverse's Doctor Doom, to his superpowers.

Instead of a hyper advanced suit of panther armour and increased reflexes via the heart shaped herb, he has powers based on the Egyptian God Horus. Which, apparently, means he has the ability to transform into a were-panther!

And also a hawk, but that's honestly not quite as interesting as turning into a god damn WERE-PANTHER!

Why this version of Black Panther never got his own solo book is beyond my understanding. You don't just shove something like a were-panther into people's faces and then not focus squarely on it.
