10 Insane Alternate Versions Of Black Panther You Won't Believe Exist

5. Marvel Zombies Black Panther

One of the biggest poster boys for mid-2000s needlessly bleak comic book storytelling was Marvel's Marvel Zombies. A universe in which a zombie plague spread throughout the Marvel universe, turning all your favourite heroes into horrible flesh eating monsters. But the main difference, of course, is that these zombies are not mindless, still retaining their intelligence, making them all the more dangerous.

T'Challa spends much of the initial story of Marvel Zombies strapped to a table by an infected Hank Pym, who decides to keep him around as a food source, quickly taking his arm and leg. Fortunately T'Challa manages to narrowly escape with the still alive severed head of Wasp, and even goes on to rule a rebuilt New York (now renamed New Wakanda) as its king forty years later.

But remember that this is Marvel Zombies, where happy endings have cooties. So when an assassin nearly kills T'Challa, Wasp decides that the best course of action would be to turn him into a zombie to save his life. Up yours, Wasp.
