10 Insane Alternate Versions Of Captain America You Won't Believe Exist

8. Ultimate Universe (President Rogers)

Ultimate Captain America President
Marvel Comics

Originally, the only difference between the Ultimate Universe's Captain America and his main 616 counterpart was that he was occasionally given some atrocious one-liners to fire off (does it look like the A on his forehead stands for France?), be a great deal more naive and, well, older too. Come 2012 however, and the Ultimate Universe was in need of a major kick in the backside - a kick that was administered by Steve himself.

What was once the jewel in the crown of Marvel's publishing line at the beginning of the millennium had faded into irrelevance in the wake of two dreary event books, but it did show brief signs of life shortly before its demise. Multiple efforts were made to suitably differentiate the line from Marvel's mainstream books, as Peter Parker was killed off and replaced by Miles Morales, and Cap himself decided that he should run for office (he even does it all in costume, wonderfully).

But if you thought that Steve would put on a suit, sit in the Oval Office and push pencils, you'd be mistaken. The character leads the nation (which is currently dealing with a renegade Texas), the only way he knows how - with rhetoric, authority, and a buttload of action.

He's brought in to steer the country out of a crisis, but there's something odd about the Rogers Presidency all the same.
