10 Insane Alternate Versions Of Green Lantern You Won't Believe Exist
6. Dystopian Hal Jordan - Flashpoint
When taken on its own, Flashpoint is an interesting Elseworlds story that gave readers a glimpse into a DC universe typified by turmoil.
Batman's Thomas Wayne, with Martha the new Joker and his son, Bruce, dead years ago; Aquaman and Wonder Woman are bloodthirsty tyrants, with Atlantis and Themyscira at war with each other; and poor old Hal Jordan is just a plain old pilot caught in the middle of everything. Everything is clearly wrong, but the story itself couldn't be anymore right.
The big twist on GL in this continuity is that Hal simply doesn't get the chance to be the new Green Lantern. He intercepts Abin Sur as usual, only the government confiscate the Lantern's ring before Jordan can acquire it. Before he has a chance to really try and claim the ring Jordan receives orders to commence a nuclear attack on Europe, now caught in between the armies of Atlantis and the Amazons, and he perishes when his payload fails to detonate.
Flashpoint was a grim reality, and the miserable ending that awaited Hal embodied that and then some.
