Following the Scarlet Witch's warping of reality, which created a world built around the desires of the X-Men, Avengers and Magneto (though the latter's makes up the basis for the majority of the new world), these new Avengers are a group of human-resistance fighters lead by Luke Cage in opposition of the ruling class of mutants.

The group aren't just taking on the House of M for the sake of being troublemakers, but are instead battling against the abuses of power the mutants have committed.

Initially the team consists of Iron Fist, Hawkeye, Tigra, Misty Knight and Cage, until Wolverine (who has regained his true memories by this point) and Layla Miller help other heroes, such as Spider-Man, realise the truth and attempt to restore the Earth back to its normal state (if you can call the base Marvel universe normal).
